"So last Friday, a couple of homies and I hit up the Kress Night Club in Hollywood for a Fashion Show by Celebrity Designer, Sterling Williams. Some of you may know Sterling from Donald Trumps new reality TV Show, “The Ultimate Merger”, but if you don’t know him… well now you will.
I’ve been to a couple of fashion shows before but I must say this event was like none other. First of all, how many fashion shows do you know that takes place on a roof top of a 4 story building? Secondly, the weather was beautiful, the people were excited and most importantly the show was great.
So many show’s focus on the grandeur of the set or the event and lose focus on the content, but I think this show was well put together from top to bottom. Yes, Sterling is a Celebrity and all Celebs have a large following, but if you for a second thought that this dude was going to succeed just because of his Celeb status, think again. If you don’t believe his sincerity and dedication to his craft, you need to check out his website and click on the Style Tips tab. Read the disclaimer at the top of the page and you will know that this dude has a clear mental understanding about what fashion really means. This is why people respond positively to his brand and not just because of his Celeb status!
His goal isn’t to copy or follow trends, but rather invent and be creative. He keeps his ear to the streets and takes the positive and negative feedback’s to better himself and his brand. I personally think it takes a lot of courage to put a statement like that and put it up on your website for all to see. Trust me, I don’t think it’s bullsh*t!
I’ll find out for sure next week when I get to interview him and I’ll get to see first hand what this guy is made of. I’ve worked in the fashion industry for quite a while now and I’m always excited to see creativity at work because the bulk of the industry is all about copying and following rather than leading and innovating.
